Young The Giant
While they were still known as The Jakes, the future Young The Giant won an online contest on Sonicbids. The prize was an '09 opening slot for King Of Leon at Chicago's House Of Blues.
A couple months after the Kings Of Leon show, the Irvine, CA, based band played South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin. Their music was heard on cable shows (MTV's The Real World: Brooklyn and A&E's The Beast)and L.A.'s Alt. Rock heavy-hitter KROQ-FM played their song "Cough Syrup."
Along the way the band added Payam Doostzadeh(bass)and François Comtois (drums) but lost Ehson Hashemian (keyboards). He left after the band signed with Roadrunner Records but before they became Young The Giant.
With their self-titled debut out, Young The Giant returned to SXSW before touring as an opener for Incubus.
