Warpaint's '14 self-titled sophomore set was produced by Flood and mixed by Nigel Godrich. The album received a favorable review from Rolling Stone magazine and the track "Love Is To Die" was featured in a Calvin Klein ad.
A decade earlier Warpaint formed in L.A. Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante mixed and mastered the band's '08 debut EP, "Exquisite Corpse." Frusciante was guitarist/vocalist Emily Kokal's boyfriend at the time. The group's full-length debut, "The Fool" dropped two years later. The album received a glowing review in the NME.
Meanwhile, the track "Elephants" from "Exquisite Corps" found its way into the horror film "Siren."
Accompanying "Warpaint" was a documentary on the making of the album, filmed by bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg's husband and filmmaker, Chris Cunningham.
'15 saw Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman, Stella Mozgawa and Lindberg involved in side projects. Most notable was Lindberg's solo effort "Right On" which featured Mozgawa on drums.
The next year Warpaint released its third studio album, "Heads Up."
