Between Alter Bridge's '07 second album "Blackbird" and Creed's '09 reunion set, "Full Circle," Mark Tremonti, the guitarist for both bands, found time to put out an instructional guitar documentary DVD titled Mark Tremonti: The Sound & The Story - which included instructions on how to play the solos on "Blackbird."
Apparently, Tremonti liked a full calendar. That became even more obvious when he started talking about recording a solo album.
"I'm going to do a solo record because there are some songs that I'd hate to think wouldn't see the light of day because they don't work for Creed or Alter Bridge."
Tremonti handled the guitar, lead vocal and bass tracks. But the solo project became a band with the inclusion of former Submersed guitarist Eric Friedman and drummer Garrett Whitlock. The result was '12's "All I Was."
Creed/Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall was a session/touring member. But by September of '12 Marshall was gone and Wolfgang Van Halen (the son of Eddie and Valerie) was in as the touring bassist.
The group's second album, "Cauterize," with Van Halen on bass, dropped in '15.
