Teenage Time Killers
Teenage Time Killers is billed as a supergroup. Actually, it's a collective revolving around guitarist Mick Murphy, of the L.A. based My Ruin, and Corrosion Of Conformity drummer Reed Mullin.
With over two dozen contributors, including Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Nirvana), Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), Nick Oliveri (Queens Of The Stone Age), Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) and Nick Oliveri (Queens Of The Stone Age), among others, the album took longer than usual to complete. But it got done.
This is how Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe explained his participation. "A while back, a mutual friend said, 'Hey, Reed wants you to sing on the new Corrosion Of Conformity record'. I'm like, 'Right on!'. And one thing led to another and it ended up being this project."
Blythe's Teenage Time Killer contribution was 'Hung Out To Dry," a song about the generation gap that he sees, between younger fans who have grown up online, and those who remember the pre-internet era.
"It was recorded at Dave Grohl's studio (Studio 606)," continued Blythe. "Reed started playing all these tracks, and Dave played bass and guitar on them. On the track that I'm on, it's me, Reed and Dave. All the sudden, there's all these people, all mixed in with the project."
Teenage Time Killer signed a deal with Rise Records with help from Grohl's management and marketing people.
Debut set, "Teenage Time Killers: Greatest Hits Vol. 1," dropped in late July of '15.
