Julia Cumming is a model for Yves Saint Laurent. She is also the bassist/vocalist for Brooklyn's Sunflower Bean.
In the spring of '15, guitarist/vocalist Nick Kivlen and drummer Jacob Faber decided to accompany Cumming when she traveled to Paris for a modeling assignment.
Due to Winter Storm Juno, Sunflower Bean were stuck in the City of Lights and missed the release of their debut six-song EP, "Show Me Your Seven Secrets."
The set featured the single "Tame Impala." The group Tame Impala recorded a song titled "Led Zeppelin," so Sunflower Bean continued the shout-out.
Kivlen and Faber grew up on Long Island and began playing music together while in high school. Cumming, a Manhattan native, joined before completing high school. In interviews, Cumming stated that music was her first love and added that Saint Laurent was very supportive.
A Village Voice story published in '14, identified Sunflower Bean as "The #1 Hardest Working NYC Band." The indie pop band's profile got another boost when the song "I Hear Voices" was included in Rolling Stone magazine's July 2nd, '15 edition of The Playlist (favorite songs, albums and videos).
The full-length debut album, "Human Ceremony," arrived a short time later.
