Something Unto Nothing (S.U.N.)

What happens when a multi-platinum vocalist and "Canadian Idol" judge is teamed with a multi-instrumentalist? The answer: Something Unto Nothing (S.U.N.). Sass Jordan and Brian Tichy were at the core of S.U.N. Bassist Michael Devin, who worked with Tichy, most notably in Whitesnake, and drummer Tommy Stewart filled out the line-up.

Jordan reached her commercial zenith in the early '90s. That included a '92 duet with Joe Cocker, "Trust In Me," that appeared on The Bodyguard soundtrack. The Whitney Houston led album sold over 27 million copies. Jordan also starred in the lead role of Janis Joplin in the off-Broadway hit, "Love Janis" before joining "Canadian Idol."

Tichy was in Lynch Mob (Dokken guitarist George Lynch's group) and joined Whitesnake in '10. As a drummer, Tichy worked with Billy Idol, Foreigner, and Ozzy Osbourne. He was also known for organizing the John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) tributes, The Groove Remains The Same.

Devin played with Lynch Mob, also became a member of Whitesnake in '10 and performed at The Groove Remains The Same tributes.

A Flint native, Stewart was the original Godsmack drummer playing on two multi-platinum albums - the group's self-titled debut and "Awake." He was Fuel 's replacement drummer in '05 after the band parted ways with Kevin Miller and worked on Everclear's '09 release "In A Different Light." Shortly thereafter, he and the rest of the band were jettisoned by frontman Art Alexakis.

Containing the lead single, "I'm The One," S.U.N. initially released their debut full-length, self-titled album digitally.

In early '13, prior to the arrival of the group's debut on CD, Tichy announced his departure from Whitesnake. "First off, Whitesnake will obviously be fine without me," Tichy wrote in a statement. "I have a new band, S.U.N., that I am beyond proud of. I've got to live it and let this band have a fair shot, or else I might as well just call it 'a cute little project I do if I have free time'."

However, the album's release date was pushed back because Tichy had to undergo surgery for a broken collarbone suffered in a mountain bike accident.
