Smoosh is made up of two sisters that started playing music at around 8 and 10 years old. The kicker is that a year later these girls are performing their own songs in public. At a Capitol Hill show over a hundred people came out to hear this fun band. You could hear people shouting out for favorite songs and singing along. The audience was the perfect mix of kids and typical Seattle concert goers.
Asya now 13 and Chloe now 10 got started when their dad went to a local instrument store to get his violin re strung, the salesperson offered Chloe drum lessons if she bought a drum set that she was admiring.
On the CD "She Like Electric" the girls thank Jason (the salesperson) for helping then form the band.
Smoosh performed on KEXP and the buzz is built fast. This was a band to keep an eye on.
They opened for Sleater-Kinney, Cat Power, Death Cab for Cutie and The Presidents of the United States of America. Cat Power seemed to be a fan and started covering the Smoosh song "Rad."
