Sleepy Sun's origins date back to '05 when UC Santa Cruz students formed Mania. The line-up included bassist Hubert Guy. Two years later, Mania morphed into Sleepy Sun with the addition of former Birds Fled From Me singer Rachel Fannan. The group's '08 debut, "Embrace" was followed by Guy's departure. He was replaced by Jack Allen.
Building a reputation as a live act, the group toured the U.S. opening for Arctic Monkeys prior to issuing sophomore set "Fever." Later in '10, Fannan left citing a lack of input into the bands creative process and conflicts with other bandmembers. She continued her career as a solo artist.
The group's first post-Fannan studio album was "Spine Hits." That was followed in '14 by "Maui Tears."
