In the early days of Rock n' Roll the age difference between the performer and the audience was often minimal. For a number of reasons (one being there are more hoops to jump through to be successful), the gap between the audience and performer is usually more than a decade. So when a group of teens emerge with post-Punk Rock album, it draws attention - teens playing for teens.
