Are we a band? Depends. What day is it?
Massacre, a Death Metal band, began in '84 and saw its demise and resurrection played out repeatedly in the '80s.
Formed by guitarists Allen West and Rick Rozz, along with bassist Terry Butler and drummer Bill Andrews, Massacre soon added vocalist Kam Lee.
Andrews, Butler and Rozz left to form another group, Death, but returned long enough to release Massacre's debut album "From Beyond," in '91. That was followed by the '92 EP "Inhuman Condition." But rather than moving forward, the group split yet again.
Rozz reformed Massacre in '93 and the group issued their sophomore set "Promise" in '96.
In subsequent years, there were other attempts to reestablish Massacre - most notably an '06 edition with Lee and Butler (along with guitarists Steve Swanson and Sam Williams, plus drummer Curtis Beeson) and an '11 version featuring Butler and Rozz (with vocalist Ed Webb and drummer Mike Mazzonetto).
Things started to look up for the group when Massacre was signed, in '12, to a deal with Century Media Records. The immediate result was the EP "Condemned To The Shadows."
The full-length "Back From Beyond" dropped in '14 but later that year, Butler and Webb left Massacre resulting in another disbanding.
