Killer Be Killed
"We've got three singers for the project, which is going to be killer."
That's what Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera said when discussing Killer Be Killed in '12.
In addition to Cavalera, the original line-up had Converge bassist Nate Newton, Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist/vocalist Greg Puciato and ex-Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch. Newton had also been in Cavalera Conspiracy with Max. However, he was eventually replaced by Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders.
Despite not yet having a name, the group entered the Fortress Studio in L.A. in '13 with producer Josh Wilbur to lay down tracks for what would become their self-titled debut which dropped the following year.
"It's a bit of Sabbath-y doom, a bit of Thrash, a bit of Hardcore and Punk," explained Puciato.
The tracks "Wings Of Feather And Wax" and "Face Down" were streamed in advance of the '14 album.
Meanwhile, Elitch pulled double duty drumming for Killer Be Killed and the Mars Volta spin-off Antemasque.
