In This Moment
In '11, founding guitarist Blake Bunzel and drummer Jeff Fabb left In This Moment, a Heavy Metal band from L.A. They were replaced by Tom Hane and Randy Weitzel, respectively. The follow year, the group released their fourth studio effort, "Blood." The album made its debut at #15 on the Billboard 200 - the group's highest charting debut to date.
Seven years earlier, vocalist Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth, who met through mutual friends, formed Dying Star with Fabb. Unhappy with their musical direction, they added guitarist Bunzel and bassist Josh Newell and renamed themselves In This Moment. But Newell didn't stay long and his exit triggered the arrival and subsequent departure of a litany of bassists - (Pascual Romero, Jesse Landry, Kyle Konkiel and Travis Johnson).
After posting demos on MySpace, In This Moment was "discovered" by Rob "Blasko" Nicholson, the bassist for Ozzy Osbourne, who became the band's manager.
Debut album, "Beautiful Tragedy," was released in '07 but it was their much-improved sophomore set, "The Dream," out the following year, that was In This Moment's first charting effort. It made its debut at #73 on the Billboard 200. The band's third album, "A Star-Crossed Wasteland ," dropped in '10 and did even better, selling sold 10,500 copies in its first week to land at #40.
Brink was named the Hottest Chick in Metal at the '10 Revolver Golden God Awards.
"Blood" represented another change. It was the first album since the band parted ways with Blasko. The title track was the set's lead single. To support the album, In This Moment went on an U.S. tour opening for Shinedown and Papa Roach.
Two years after the release of the group's fifth album, "Black Widow," Hane announced his resignation. "I have had an amazing four years with some amazing people and wouldn't trade it for anything," he said in a statement. "However, I have struggled to be truly happy creatively."
