Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah
Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah (CYHSY), a collection of former Connecticut College classmates, made their initial impression online getting attention from blogs. Pitchfork Media chimed in with their endorsement, "Best New Music." David Byrne (Talking Heads) and David Bowie were spotted at CYHSY shows.
CYHSY's '05 self-titled, self-released album was followed by "Some Loud Thunder" two years later. That same year, "Live At Lollapalooza 2007: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah" was released on iTunes. It featured the band's complete set.
Solo albums and side projects are great creative outlets but they can confuse fans. By '09, CYHSY had released two albums when band member Alec Ounsworth (guitar/vocals) released his solo debut, "Mo Beauty." His other band, Flashy Python, also issued their debut album, "Skin And Bones."
In addition, CYHSY's Robbie Guertin (guitar/keyboards) and Tyler Sargent (bass) were also in the band Uninhabitable Mansions who released an album. So now what?
CYHSY's '11 release, "Hysterical," came with assurances that the group hadn't broken up.
But less than a year after the album dropped CYHSY announced via their website that Guertin had left to pursue other interests. And just three days later (7/6/12), the news came that Sargent's last show with the group would be the following day. Neither were replaced as CYHSY became a duo of Ounsworth and Greenhalgh (augmented by guest musicians).
CYHSY digitally released the EP "Little Moments" on their Bandcamp page in '13. The set consisted of four songs with a heavier reliance on synths and drum machines and fewer guitars.
CYHSY's fourth full-length album, ''Only Run,'' continued "Little Moments" ethos, including reworked songs from their previous EP.
2005: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
2007: Some Loud Thunder
2014: Only Run
2006: Fall 2006 Tour EP (w/ Architecture In Helsinki and Takka Takka)

CYHSY is Post-Punk with its heart on its sleeve.
