Chelsea Light Moving
Everyone knows that Thurston Moore was a founder of Sonic Youth - a band that included his wife, bassist Kim Gordon, and guitarist Lee Ranaldo. Moore and Gordon separated which no doubt led the band to go on "indefinite hiatus" in '11.
Moore, like many frontmen, had a solo career that began with '95's "Psychic Hearts." As a result, he needed a backing band for recording and touring. It was from that pool of musicians that he culled Chelsea Light Moving.
Samara Lubelski played violin on Moore's two most recent albums ('07's "Trees Outside The Academy" and '11's "Demolished Thoughts"). Raised in a Soho artistic community, Lubelski began her career as a violinist, later adding guitar and bass (along with cello and melotron). She made her solo album debut in '04 with "Fleeting Skies."
Keith Wood is the name of an international rugby star while John Maloney is a comedian. However, the Keith Wood in Chelsea Light Moving is a guitarist best known for fronting Hush Arbors, a band signed to Moore's Massachusetts-based Ecstatic Peace! label.
Drummer John Maloney was a veteran of Sunburned Hand Of The Man, a group that also released recordings on Ecstatic Peace!
Chelsea Light Moving's self-titled debut album was issued in March, '13. They also posted a blurb regarding their availability and venue requirements.
"The band is ready to detonate any birthday party, wedding or hullaboo in any country, planet or stratosphere that doesn't support right wing extremist NRA sucking bozo-ology."
