A lot of people might be surprised to see Pearl Jam this highly regarded so many years after they were all over MTV and alternative radio. Don't be. They have become the greatest band in the world since that time, and have done it in a way that has been true to what they believe in and stand for.

The things that make Pearl Jam great are far too many to list, but the core of it is that they have consistently refused to "sell out" to radio or t.v., instead choosing creative ways to gain and maintain a hardcore fan base without worrying about record sales. As a few examples: a) they gave away, for free, their new single via download to fans before their new album was even released; b) they reserve the absolute best seats at every concert they play for fans who have stuck with them throughout the years; c) their live show is AMAZING, consistently topping two and a half hours and 30+ songs; d) they don't settle into a routine in concert, instead changing up their setlist dramatically every single night (unlike 90% of bands in existence today); e) they make every single concert available to fans to download as an "official" bootleg.

There is so much more to be said, but more than any of the above, even, it is the connection they make with their fans -- through their beautiful, thoughtful, inspiring music, and through other means as well -- that set them above the rest. Listen to their touching rendition of "Hawaii '78" at their recent Hawaii show to see what I mean -- it not only showed the respect and connection they have with the people of Hawaii, but almost literally brought the entire crowd to tears with the power of the performance. It was 100% genuine, something that no other band today could have pulled off.

In summary, Pearl Jam rules -- always have and always will.

Best band bar none. Song writing and the emotional content of the songs are unmatched. The depth of the band must be mentioned too. Every single member is used to create the music and lyrics. With five heads putting a 13 song studio album together, its gonna be great, everytime. If you haven't seen them live, you must. The inconsitency of their setlists would make other bands cringe, but Pearl Jam strives for a unique concert experience EVERY TIME they hit the stage. No show is the same.

LONG LIVE PJ.

Pearl Jam has won in all 3 catagories.
Maybe now Pearl Jam will finally start to get the recognition they greatly deserve.

I hope this is announced on every rock radio station in the usa. Maybe then people will realize just how much they've been missing out if they've ignored Pearl Jam... the best band of all-time.

The only band that can touch my soul with the music they perform. Eddie can make me cry with his emotional energy he gives off at show, and then can make me laugh a few moments later. What songwriters, what performers ,what other band loves their fans as much as this one loves theirs? NONE! Hands down, this band deserves any award out there, being given out by any organization. Just go see a show, and feel the passion and the energy you experience there. Are you something out of this, all encompassing trip?
